I always worry about the strength of my guests and their ability to last through the day, so I consider it to be my duty to send you out with a good breakfast inside you (in fact, I have been known to get quite insistent). After a healthy start of fresh fruit, muesli and yoghurt, I can grill you a traditional Scottish breakfast, but I love to introduce visitors to some of the wonderful smoked fish that Scotland enjoys: smoked salmon (of course), but also Arbroath Smokies, Finnan Haddock, and the best kippers you'll ever find (oak smoked and undyed). Porridge can be provided when appropriate. Vegetarian guests are a challenge I enjoy!
Whenever possible, I use local produce and I have an excellent butcher and fishmonger (we even have a great cheesemonger!).
Guests are encouraged to use the family sitting room. We keep most of our books and the family telelvision here, but we would normally prefer to sit and chat to our visitors.
